You’re my sugar rush(:

05Mar08

your palms are sweaty, you’re suspended in the air 7m by naught but a rope and a prayer. You know how you’re gonna do it, but you don’t know if you can. this leap’s more than anything you’ve done before, the hold’s about a metre above your head. You can’t trust the unsteady hold you have right now. You’ve nothing but your arms, your legs, your brains and maybe the chalk that’s barely accessible. Wiping your hands accross your shirt you brace yourself and get ready for your death-defying leap of faith. Looking down you see the many holds you’ve come; it’s all led you here. A bead of sweat slowly trails down your face. Throwing everything to the wind, you push off with all your strength and your right hand instinctively reaches out. No, yes, you’ve nicked it. you’ve got a hold and you can now smear your way up the wall. Muttering a silent prayer, you move on. The final hold of this climb’s just another 2 metres above you. You can see it, how it leers at you. It’s not very big. barely enough for your fingers to wrap around. Pressing on, you swing from side to side and eventually, you’ve got it. Looking down, it’s been a long way. But the hours you seem to have experienced has been a mere 5 minutes. Suddenly the blood rushes away from your head and you hear applause from the gathered spectators. Wiping your hands, you look, ready for your next climb. As you’re lowered down, a sense of accomplishment and self-pride fills you; you’ve done it, you can rest and be ready for the next one. Your arms ache, but it’s nothing to the spike of emotion experienced during the climb.
